
Influenza represents one of the major global health challenges of our time. Here, influenza virions, budding from the surface of the Earth, symbolize the ever-present threat of an influenza pandemic and remind us of the challenges in limiting viral outbreaks in an increasingly interconnected world. This issue focuses on some of the issues and topics surrounding influenza infection and emerging respiratory viruses. Cover illustrated by Yi-Min Chun.
